Highlights of the Week

Subsea World News has put together a recap of the most interesting articles from the previous week (July 17 – July 23).

JDR Cable Systems is to be acquired by the Polish manufacturer of cables and wires TELE-FONIKA Kable (TFKable).

JDR’s subsea systems, used in the global offshore oil, gas and renewable industries should now enhance the range of cable solutions TFKable can provide. The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2017.

Subsea 7 has been awarded a contract extensions for three pipelay support vessels (PLSVs) currently on long-term day-rate contracts offshore Brazil.

These extensions have a combined value of approximately USD 250 million, the Oslo-listed firm said on Friday.

OneSubsea, a Schlumberger company, has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for a subsea multiphase boosting system by TAQA for the Otter field in the UK North Sea.

This will be the longest subsea multiphase boosting tieback in the UK North Sea, Schlumberger noted.

The jacket for the utility & living quarter platform (ULQ) has been installed on the high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) Culzean development field, Heerema Fabrication Group informed through social media.

The third and the final jacket follows the installation of the central processing facility (CPF) jacket set up earlier this month. The jacket for the wellhead platform was installed in May last year.

Aberdeen-based Canyon Offshore has been awarded a contract for the provision of offshore cable trenching services on the North Sea Link Interconnector.

The multi-million pound subcontract was awarded by Prysmian PowerLink, who are manufacturing and installing the two parallel HVDC cables for National Grid and Statnett between Blyth in England and Kvilldal in Norway.
