MCT to Share Its Plans for Brough Ness Tidal Project in Kirkwall, UK

Siemens’ Marine Current Turbines will be at Kirkwall Town Hall on Thursday (29th November, 3.00pm to 8.00pm) to share its outline plans for its Brough Ness tidal project. MCT is one of a number of tidal and wave energy developers who will be exhibiting at the event.

The event, an opportunity for Orcadians to be updated on the progress with the Pentland Firth & Orkney Waters Marine Energy Park, is supported by a number of organisations including The Crown Estate, Orkney Islands Council, The Highlands Council, Marine Scotland and Highlands & Islands Enterprise.

MCT has an approval for a lease from The Crown Estate to deploy a 100MW tidal farm off Brough Ness, which is off the southern most tip of the Orkney Islands. It plans to issue a scoping report for the project in the early part of next year.
