SME Awards PLAT-O Development Support Job to Orcades Marine
Orcades Marine Management Consultants Ltd has entered into a long term relationship with Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) Ltd to provide Marine Operations and Risk Management support for the deploymeNt of their PLAT-O tidal turbine platform.
Their first prototype is being tested in tidal waters off Yarmouth in the Isle of Wight, SME’s base location, this year and and there are plans to deploy it and others further afield in 2015.
PLAT-O is a bouyant taut-moored sub-surface tidal energy platform which can be used to deploy tidal turbines into the right place in the tidal stream. It is specifically designed to maximise energy generation through access the most active part of the tidal stream and to significantly reduce installation, and operations and maintenance costs.
