STL Nominated in New Enterprise Category at Subsea UK 2013 Awards

Well intervention specialist Subsea Technologies Ltd. (STL) has been named a finalist in the ‘New Enterprise’ category at the Subsea 2013 Industry Awards.

The seventh annual awards ceremony will take place on the 6th February during Aberdeen’s biggest annual subsea event, Subsea 2013.

STL became a member of Subsea UK in 2012 and this is the first time they have entered its prestigious awards scheme.

Drummond Lawson, STL’s Managing Director, said, “We are delighted that STL has been recognised for its commitment to innovating well intervention technology. 2013 marks our third year in business and it is set to be our busiest year yet. This is a great start to the year for STL.”

Over the past three years STL has developed a broad multi-national client base for their well intervention and well control products including oil majors and international service companies as far afield as Norway, the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa. Over three quarters of STL’s business to date has been for export.

STL maintains a constant focus on existing product development and new product innovation, having successfully delivered the first of their innovative SLIC connectors configured as a subsea wireline pressure control head in 2012, and currently being in the process of completing an order for a SLIC connector configured as a riser connector, due for delivery in February 2013.

This year STL is starting the process of broadening their focus beyond just well intervention. The unique Xtreme Release Connector offers huge potential in the drilling riser market for emergency release of drilling risers from subsea BOPs without the usual release angle limitations and STL have started the process of scaling up the XR to meet this challenge.
