Viper Subsea Receives Subsea UK Innovation & Technology Award

Viper Subsea Receives Subsea UK Innovation & Technology Award

Viper Subsea has received the prestigious Innovation & Technology Award for its latest product V-LIFE at the Subsea UK Business Awards 2014.

The award, which was announced on 5th February at a gala dinner in Aberdeen, further reinforces Viper Subsea’s reputation as a key player in the provision of subsea technology solutions.

The Innovation & Technology category recognises excellence by a company developing new technology and bringing it to market. The judges are looking in particular for a company that can prove its technology not only has increased its revenue but provided a truly innovative solution to an existing problem.

Viper Subsea unveiled the V-LIFE in September last year and since its launch has quickly began to make a major impact in dealing with water ingress problems on ageing umbilicals. The V-LIFE is a unit that is installed on the topsides with no subsea intervention being necessary. When fitted, the V-LIFE increases the insulation resistance of the umbilical and the subsea electrical distribution system. By extending the life of cables and connectors Viper Subsea can substantially reduce the need for expensive subsea repair work and equipment replacement. As well as offering increased insulation resistance, V-LIFE continuously monitors umbilicals to give operators vital information about the overall integrity of the electrical conductors and insulation.

Neil Douglas, Managing Director of Viper Subsea, said: “V-LIFE is a breakthrough technology in the efforts to overcome the consequences of long term immersion of electrical equipment in the subsea environment and we are delighted that it has been recognised by Subsea UK with this award. We are committed to providing the most efficient and cost saving asset integrity management solutions to the subsea industry and continue to fund research programmes that see the further development of new technologies such as V-LIFE.”

Established in 2007, Viper Subsea has offices in Portishead and Aberdeen and provides turnkey subsea distribution systems and products. Led by Neil Douglas and Max Nodder, Viper Subsea has established itself as one of the most talented organisations serving the subsea market and the company has enjoyed revenue growth of 50% year on year.
