Pacific Orca Completes SBJ Installation at Borkum Riffgrund 1 OWF

The first offshore wind Suction Bucket Jacket (850 tons, 57m) has just been successfully installed on the DONG Energy Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm.

The Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm has been selected for testing this foundation due to its sandy seabed, which makes the installation of this concept a challenge. Challenging test conditions provide a more solid case for the evaluation of the concept.

The floating load out, transport and installation have been executed by GeoSea. The suction process has been done by SPT Offshore.

The installation vessel Pacific Orca, supplied by DONG Energy, is currently demobilizing in Eemshaven.

The armour stones will be installed soon by GeoSea’s sister company Tideway.
